3D Intraoral Scanner
We are very excited to have implemented a digital intraoral scanner within our practice. The scanner creates digital impressions of your oral cavity and will create and display a 3D model on the screen. This AI-driven tool allows us to store your impressions over time, observe even the finest of changes, digitally design your smile, and create a treatment simulation. At Sunlight Dental, we use TRIOS 3D intraoral scanners for tracking bite forces, monitoring gum recession, restorations, implants, crowns, bridges, retainers, and Invisalign® treatment. With the use of 3D scanners, there is no longer a need for goopy impression materials!
VELscope® oral cancer screening
At Sunlight Dental, we have incorporated VELscope® within our practice. With this latest technology, we are able to provide oral cancer screening screenings that are pain-free, non-invasive, and quick; taking only 2-3 minutes. VELscope® scans tissue for any abnormalities by using natural fluorescence to enhance visualization of oral and oropharyngeal precancerous and cancerous cells as well as other disease processes. Regular screenings and early detection can enhance your chances of detecting cancer when it is still localized, thus greatly increasing your chances of survival. Oral cancer screenings can be billed directly to your insurance, however, some insurance may not cover this procedure.
Laser Dentistry
The use of lasers within dentistry has proven to be revolutionary. By incorporating lasers into our practice, we are able to provide pain-free minimally invasive dentistry. The applications of lasers are vast and vary from stimulating healing processes and pain relief to intra- and extra-oral cosmetic applications. Lasers are heavily integrated within the scope of our practice and can be used for: facial aesthetics, general dentistry, periodontics, maxillofacial surgery, cosmetics, biopsies, implantology, and sleep dentistry. Lasers minimize bleeding, pain, and post-surgical bacterial infections, which also reduce the need for anesthesia and sutures! Feel free to ask us how lasers can benefit you and aid your treatment!
Digital X-Rays
We only take digital x-rays within our practice! But why is that important? Digital radiography eliminates the need for traditional x-ray film packs and cassettes. The process leads to a significant reduction in radiation exposure (up to 80%!) for patients and staff, zero use of harmful chemicals in the creation of the x-rays, easier storage, better photo resolution, and more effective communication between the doctor and patient. Digital X-rays are a crucial tool in patient education and diagnostic exams.
